I’ll be honest and say that the only reason I ever watched this was because of Colin Firth. I had no prior knowledge of Vermeer nor did I know that the movie was based on a book (this story is pure fiction). While I honestly believe that the movie is good, the scene where Johannes has to pierce Griet’s ear pretty much turns the decent film into something magical. I’ve never seen a scene with so much sexual tension between two characters. I mean, all he does is touch her lip but damn. It was subtle but extremely sexy.
